The Humane Society of the United States and Born Free USA Praise Hawaii Governor for Signing Bear Bile Prohibition into Law
The HSUS, on behalf of its more than 50,000 members and supporters across Hawaii, and Born Free USA thanked Gov. Neil Abercrombie for signing House Bill 2296, prohibiting the sale of possession of bear bile, gallbladder and other bear parts, into law earlier this week.

House Appropriations Committee Votes to Strip Funds for Inspections of U.S. Horse Slaughter Plants
By a voice vote, the U.S. House Appropriations Committee today approved an amendment offered by Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., to block spending by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to inspect U.S. horse slaughter plants in Fiscal Year 2013.
