A fundamental goal of The Humane Society of the United States is higher animal welfare standards on the farm. The Rural Development and Outreach program celebrates traditional farmers and ranchers who live up to such standards—for the sake of animals, the land, and local communities. The program facilitates the connection of these farmers and ranchers to consumers who share humane values.

State Agriculture Councils

Our state agriculture councils spotlight farms using best practices and help connect them to markets. They also help family farmers switch to more humane practices. Learn More
