Web Marketing Specialist

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Web Marketing Specialist for the Digital department. The main responsibility of this position is to produce web content and manage web tools to maximize donations, advocacy, and list growth, as well as cultivate and retain website visitors.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining web content to include editing, updating, and overhauling content where necessary;
  • Coordinating with program staff to ensure program-related web content is up to date, relevant, and action-oriented;
  • Working directly with the Web Marketing Manager ensuring all web content adheres to  content strategy, is consistent in voice and tone, and is action-focused and goal-oriented;
  • Working with the web development team to produce, implement, and maintain web-specific marketing technology;
  • Writing, editing, and producing new web content for company website and its associated pages;
  • Working with other digital channels to create effective web content packages that can be distributed across other online platforms including email and social media.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing or related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of 2 years’ demonstrated experience with online content production, including producing and maintaining web pages and writing for an online audience required;
  • Experience with marketing on behalf of nonprofit organizations including experience in online advocacy and fundraising is strongly desired;
  • Must have experience using a content management system (Convio CMS and Drupal experience is a plus) and with online conversion, web analytics tools and project management systems; experience with Google Analytics is strongly desired;
  • Basic HTML skills required; additional web markup experience desired;
  • Must have strong writing, presentation, and communication skills along with attention to detail;
  • Must be able to work with teams to be able to translate organizational goals into actionable content;
  • Familiarity and interest in animal protection issues is highly desired.
