Director of Philanthropy, Mid-Atlantic, Philanthropy
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Director of Philanthropy, Mid-Atlantic for its Philanthropy Department. The main responsibility of this position is to advance the work of The HSUS by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts ($10,000 and above) in support of priority campaigns and program initiatives. Other duties include, but are not limited to: engage volunteer and executive leadership, program and campaign representatives in major gift fundraising activities; develop an annual plan of major gift solicitations and to develop and evaluate fundraising strategies for top prospects and donors; maintain donor data and contacts in Raiser’s Edge to ensure complete and accurate information; support the mission and philosophy of HSUS and maintain a working knowledge of priority campaigns and programs, as well as relevant local and regional initiatives. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent along with five to seven years of Development experience with proven success in securing major gifts at the five- figure level highly desired. Exceptional talent for building and sustaining relationships, both externally and internally, and for driving results strongly preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary. Regular travel as well as evening and weekend hours are expected.
