Federal Legislative Specialist (Junior), Federal Affairs

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Federal Legislative Specialist (Junior) for its Federal Affairs section.  Duties include, but are not limited to: promoting the HSUS’s legislative priorities through direct outreach to Congressional staff; working closely with the Federal Affairs team to provide organization and outreach capacity; managing departmental grassroots engagement, interdepartmental communication for Federal Affairs, and the department’s role in our animal conference and Lobby Day; assisting in planning Hill events, including Legislative Awards and briefings; promoting federal priorities through social media.  Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience, along with a knowledge of the federal legislative process required.   Excellent organization skills and attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office highly desired.
