Program Coordinator/Credentialed Veterinary Technician, HSVMA-RAVS
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Program Coordinator/Credentialed Veterinary Technician for its HSVMA-RAVS department. The main responsibility of this position is to work with HSVMA-RAVS Director to ensure successful operation of field clinics, and to support coordination and management of the HSVMA-RAVS program. Other duties include, but are not limited to: direct and train clinic personnel (professional volunteers/students/contract staff); manage and administer skilled anesthesia services; utilize clinical expertise to assess risk, order appropriate protocols and approve medical clearance for anesthesia; recruit, interview, assign and manage professional and student volunteers; work with RAVS Director to develop and implement program goals and protocols including clinical procedures, utilization of volunteers, clinic logistics, supply and inventory management; develop and oversee research and assessment projects; develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit/retain veterinary technicians and technician students in HSVMA-RAVS clinics. Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician, Licensed Veterinary Technician, or Registered Veterinary Technician with one to three years of experience. Degree in Veterinary technology and anesthesia/analgesia preferred, and a high degree of knowledge/experience in veterinary anesthesia and field medicine is desired. Skills in teaching and supervising individuals of varying backgrounds/experience levels preferred. Ability to work long hours under difficult conditions required. Other important skills include: proficiency in general computer applications, and strong organizational and communication skills.
