Major Gifts Associate, Philanthropy
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Major Gift Associate for its Philanthropy Department. The main responsibility of this position is for the proactive support of the Deputy Director of Philanthropy and remotely based Directors of Philanthropy. Other duties include, but are not limited to: accurately acknowledge donor gifts in a timely manner; support the Deputy Director of Philanthropy with special projects and administrative duties, including tracking of prospect lists for key fundraising initiatives, project management of key cultivation and stewardship projects, and managing of targeted mailings; support the cultivation and stewardship efforts of the Directors of Philanthropy for donors giving $5000+ annually; manage special projects from the board, national council and senior staff designed to cultivate new major donors; prepare briefings for high end donor events. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with a minimum of two to three years of non-profit development or for-profit sales experience is highly desired. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Target Team Approach or other relational database preferred. Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is essential.
