Planned Giving Special Gifts Associate

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Planned Giving, Special Gifts Associate for the Planned Giving department. The main responsibility of this position is to manage the department’s direct marketing, email and social media programs that provide bequests and gift annuity promotions to annual supporters of 5k or less.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the marketing of all planned giving programs and events for the organization and its affiliates including mail, email and social media campaigns;
  • Creating annual mail plans and facilitating the production elements such as artwork, design, copy review, postage, and invoice coordination with vendor;
  • Organizing meetings with the internal stakeholders and with the leadership team to develop coordinated marketing strategies to ensure coordinated messaging;
  • Providing support for the team with monthly and quarterly marketing performance reports;
  • Assisting team directors as needed and with other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required;
  • A minimum of 2 or more years’ experience in marketing or a fundraising department required;
  • Must have strong organizational skills along with ability to multitask;
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with staff at all levels;
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills;
  • Experience with databases required and knowledge of ROI or Blackbaud CRM is a plus;
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office required including knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and , Adobe Acrobat;
  • Must have ability to meet deadlines and work successfully in a team environment.
