Project Manager-Part-time

The Humane Society of The United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization is seeking a Project Manager (Part-time) in the Animal Research Issues department. The main responsibility of the Project Manager is to effectively conduct fundraising for care of the chimpanzees abandoned in Liberia and build relationships with donors to ensure continued engagement in the issue.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the current fundraising platforms and bring in additional funds for the care of the chimpanzees and development of a proper sanctuary (includes close collaboration with the team on the ground in Liberia);
  • Engaging donors to ensure their continued commitment to the project and assist with development of longer-term fundraising tools;
  • Assisting with grant proposals and grant reporting;
  • Executing the project according to the established plan, ensuring that activities are coordinated and integrated and resources are efficiently managed, defined outcomes are on time, within budget, at the required level of quality;
  • Participating in the development of project planning resource allocation and measuring metrics;
  • Assisting in the development of selected materials and communications in support of advancing project activities, and interests, such as social media content, advocacy materials, and presentations;
  • Monitoring project progress and identifying problems and barriers and make recommendations to management for adjustments as necessary to ensure quality outcomes;
  • Ensuring that all relevant project information is documented and updates/status reports are prepared and provided to management along with preparing and conducting project, presentations or briefings;
  • Ensuring that assigned project activities are in accordance to policies and procedures and participating in the evaluation of the outcomes of the projects;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Policy, or related field or equivalent experience required;
  • Minimum three years project management and/or animal welfare experience required;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
  • Must be able to travel;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with designers, developers, and editors;
  • • Must have knowledge and experience managing social media and crowd funding platforms (i.e. Go Fund Me);
