Volunteer Coordinator

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator for the South Florida Wildlife Center (SFWC). This position is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the volunteer program as well as to provide leadership and cultivate the involvement of volunteers in all activities..

This position will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting, training, and evaluating performance of volunteers;
  • Coordinating volunteer assignments and schedules;
  • Maintaining volunteer records and creating reports in the database;
  • Writing and updating manuals, forms, and job descriptions;
  • Assisting with facility tours, educational programs, special events, and special programs;
  • Providing oversight and supervision of off-site activities;
  • Assisting with donor cultivation;
  • Coordinating outreach activities and presentations that promote community involvement regarding volunteer opportunities, SFWC’s role within the community, and public awareness.


  • College degree preferred;
  • Minimum three years of prior experience in volunteer coordination;
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills;
  • Ability to inspire and mentor volunteers and support the mission.
