Web Developer

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Web Developer for the Digital department. The primary purpose of this position is to provide technological solutions to grow donor and advocacy engagement.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Working directly with the Web Development Manager and Web Programmer to research, evaluate and implement technology that optimizes donor and advocate experience and engagement across devices;
  • Writing clean code based on Photoshop files from the web designers, code review, and document code;
  • Troubleshooting and making updates to HTML email templates and communicate changes to the Email Marketing team;
  • Working with vendors to implement third party tools on all web properties;
  • Performing A/B tests and making recommendations based on resulting data and analysis;
  • Staying abreast of latest trends in mobile, web development and non-profit technology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required;
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in front-end development;
  • Demonstrated experience with Convio/Luminate Online. Solid Drupal skills highly desired;
  • Excellent HTML, CSS, jQuery/JavaScript, front-end frameworks skills; familiarity with PHP and other programming languages a plus;
  • Follows best practices for responsive web design, page speed optimization, browser support, and accessibility;
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with strong attention to detail;
  • Ideal candidate is data-driven and has experience with A/B testing platforms and Google Analytics;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Interest in animal protection issues a plus;
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence a plus.
