Animal Care Expo

 

Expo, a world-class educational conference and full-scale international trade show, is designed for anyone who works or volunteers at the local level with dogs, cats, or other animals. The goal of this annual event is to help people working in the fields of animal sheltering, care, control, rescue, and disaster planning and response do the best and most efficient jobs possible.

The 2013 Animal Care Expo was held in Tennesse in early May and touched on some timely issues.

Disaster Animal Response Training
The HSUS Disaster Animal Response Training (DART) is the premier basic training for animal disaster responders nationwide.

Duchess Sanctuary Photography Fundraiser
Join us for a photography fundraiser at the Duchess Sanctuary. Bring your camera to experience photographing more than 180 horses in a beautiful sanctuary setting. Professionals and amateurs welcome. All proceeds to the horses at Duchess. Lunch provided. Pro on hand for technical help. Space is limited, so register now.

Humane Lobby Days
Humane Lobby Days are events sponsored by The HSUS where citizen animal advocates like you gather to learn and practice lobbying for animal protection laws at the state level. Each is a full-day event including a lobbying workshop and an overview of relevant bills in your state legislature. Appointments are made for you with your state legislators so that you can meet with them (or their staff) face to face and ask for animal-friendly votes.

 Genesis Awards Benefit Gala

The Humane Society of the United States’ Genesis Awards Benefit Gala - inspiring change for animals!  Supporting the life-saving work of The HSUS, the event honors and celebrates those in the media and beyond whose efforts are building a more humane world for animals. Through our annual Genesis Awards, we recognize the influential role the media plays in increasing public consciousness of the many critical issues affecting the welfare of animals worldwide. Showcasing major programs of The HSUS, the event is also a celebration of exceptional individuals from the corporate world and public life whose inspiring advocacy is making a lasting difference in the lives of animals.

Humane Society University
 
Humane Society University is a private, non-profit institution offering a variety of online, classroom, and hybrid undergraduate degree, graduate certificate and professional development programs in human-animal studies. HSU is comprised of two parts: the School of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Professional Studies. Based in Washington, D.C., HSU's School of Arts and Sciences is the first higher education institution in the country licensed to provide Bachelor of Science degrees and Graduate Certificates in Animal Studies, Animal Policy and Advocacy, and Humane Leadership. Coursework is taught in online, hybrid, and traditional classroom formats. HSU's Department of Professional Studies offers nearly sixty specialized courses available online, or instructed locally throughout the United States. Topics covered include: animals in disasters, animal fighting investigations, mastering animal sheltering basics, humane education, and confronting compassion fatigue.

 To the Rescue! Benefit: Saving Animal Lives
 
To the Rescue! is The HSUS’s signature national benefit to support the life-saving work of the Animal Rescue Team, which crisscrosses the country to help rescue animals from natural disasters, cruelty, or neglect.

 Veg Appetit
 
Featuring gourmet vegan fare by a select group of chefs, veg appetit is a celebration of the variety and quality of options available to the conscious foodie. The Meatless Mondays campaign emphasizes what a huge impact such a simple choice can have. Funds raised at veg appetit will benefit The Humane Society of the United States’s Farm Animal Protection Campaign and Hollywood Outreach program.
