Animal Care Expo
 
Expo, a world-class educational conference and full-scale international trade show, is designed for anyone who works or volunteers at the local level with dogs, cats, or other animals. The goal of this annual event is to help people working in the fields of animal sheltering, care, control, rescue, and disaster planning and response do the best and most efficient jobs possible.

Humane Lobby Days

Humane Lobby Days are events sponsored by The HSUS where citizen animal advocates like you gather to learn and practice lobbying for animal protection laws at the state level. Each is a full-day event including a lobbying workshop and an overview of relevant bills in your state legislature. Appointments are made for you with your state legislators so that you can meet with them (or their staff) face to face and ask for animal-friendly votes.

The Genesis Awards

Celebrating animals. Celebrating the media. The Genesis Awards is a star-studded ceremony at the beautiful Beverly Hilton attracting representatives from the news and entertainment media, social business and humane communities. The annual event honors those in the media who spotlight animal issues, and is taped to be aired at a later date as a national TV special. You can help by alerting us to animal-friendly story lines, no matter how small, in a television show or film. Email us at hollywood@humanesociety.org.

Humane Society University
 
Humane Society University is a private, non-profit institution offering a variety of online, classroom, and hybrid undergraduate degree, graduate certificate and professional development programs in human-animal studies. HSU is comprised of two parts: the School of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Professional Studies. Based in Washington, D.C., HSU's School of Arts and Sciences is the first higher education institution in the country licensed to provide Bachelor of Science degrees and Graduate Certificates in Animal Studies, Animal Policy and Advocacy, and Humane Leadership. Coursework is taught in online, hybrid, and traditional classroom formats. HSU's Department of Professional Studies offers nearly sixty specialized courses available online, or instructed locally throughout the United States. Topics covered include: animals in disasters, animal fighting investigations, mastering animal sheltering basics, humane education, and confronting compassion fatigue.

Walk Humane
 
Take to the streets and sands of Montauk (with or without your dog) for Walk Humane! Walk Humane is an event that gives teams and individuals the chance to celebrate animals while supporting local and national programs that care for homeless pets. Sixty percent of Walk Humane’s net proceeds stay in the area to fund such programs as spay/neuter, adoption, and feral cat rescue. Remaining proceeds support The HSUS’s efforts to protect animals nationwide, including programs to end dogfighting, promote spay/neuter and shelter adoptions, and shut down puppy mills. If you can't join us in Montauk, register as a virtual walker.
