Geoff Handy

Senior Vice President, Marketing

  • The HSUS

Geoff Handy is Senior Vice President, Marketing, for the Humane Society of the United States and its affiliates.

Geoff and his teams seek to inspire advocates and donors to support the organization's vital animal protection mission through a variety of marketing campaigns, from Facebook posts to face-to-face interactions.

During his tenure at the HSUS, Geoff has helped transform the organization from one focused primarily on direct mail to one that seeks to reach donors across a variety of channels and touchpoints. He works to inspire supporters to deepen their commitment to the cause and to the organization, whether it's putting the organization in their will, attending a volunteer event or donating during a time when animals are in desperate need of rescue.

Geoff founded the organization's digital marketing program in 2004, and, together with his team, built an army of online advocates that have been pivotal to many of the organization's biggest successes. These include the passage of the historic Prop 2 farm animal protection ballot initiative in 2008, the elimination of the use of chimpanzees in invasive medical experiments, the passage of more than 1,000 state laws to help reduce animal suffering and many more.

A frequent presenter at conferences serving the nonprofit sector, Geoff is fluent in integrated marketing and crisis fundraising. He has an MPA from George Washington University.
