Roger A. Kindler

The HSUS Board of Directors first elected Roger Kindler as General Counsel in 1990, and has re-elected him annually since then. Since 2004, he has also been Chief Legal Officer for The HSUS.

He has served The HSUS through the tenures of five Chairs of the Board and three presidents/CEOs.

Kindler's special concerns include governance standards, Board-executive relations, compliance systems and other preventive practices, and HSUS-affiliate relations and structure. Prior to becoming General Counsel, he carried on program litigation for The HSUS.

Kindler received his B.A. from Harvard in 1971, and he did post-graduate work at King's College, Cambridge University. He earned his J.D. at Georgetown University.

He lives on Capitol Hill with his wife Ligeia, three dogs, two cats and a variety of backyard wildlife.
