Midwest Regional Director
As The HSUS Midwest Regional Director, Anne Sterling oversees 12 states: Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri.
Previously, Sterling served as our Indiana state director for five years, where she was instrumental in passing bills cracking down on puppy mills and animal cruelty.
Sterling was also a key player in ending coyote and fox penning, the trapping and sale of live coyotes and foxes to wildlife pens for bait for hunting dogs, in Indiana.
Before coming to The HSUS, Sterling worked with Habitat for Humanity and Kiwanis International. She also had the distinction of working for former Indiana Governor Frank O'Bannon and First Lady Judy O'Bannon.
Sterling is a native of Indiana and a graduate of Butler University, where she double-majored in political science and Spanish.
When not tending to her three cats and two rescued dogs, Plum and Elka, Sterling can be found reading or hiking with her husband.
