Midwest Regional Director and Indiana State Director

Anne Sterling

  • Anne Sterling is The HSUS's Indiana state director. Pete Marovich

Before becoming The HSUS's Indiana state director in 2007, Anne Sterling worked with Habitat for Humanity and Kiwanis International.

Before that, she had the distinction of working for both the former Indiana First Lady Judy O'Bannon and her husband, the late Governor Frank O'Bannon.

While with The HSUS, Sterling has been a key player in ending inhumane trapping and sale of live coyotes and foxes to wildlife pens to be used as bait for hunting dogs. She was also instrumental in passing puppy mill and anti-cruelty bills in the state.

Sterling also serves as The HSUS' Midwest Regional Director, covering 11 states in addition to Indiana

She is a native of Indiana and a graduate of Butler University, where she double-majored in political science and Spanish.

When not tending to her 3 cats and 2 rescued dogs, Plum and Elka, Sterling can be found reading or hiking with her husband.
