Darci Adams joined The HSUS as our South Dakota state director with 12 years of non-profit fundraising and shelter management experience.

While at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, Adams worked in partnership with the South Dakota State Penitentiary to develop the Paroled Pup Project, a program pairing unruly shelter dogs with inmate trainers prior to adoption. Darci also operated a pit bull rescue for eight years.

Her experience ranges from humane education to grassroots efforts. Adams is active with the Ogala Pet Project and other organizations working to address animal care and spay/neuter challenges on South Dakota's nine Indian Reservations.

Adams serves as an executive officer with the South Dakota Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters, and she is certified in animal-response disciplines, including large-animal technical rescue, swiftwater rescue, and ICE recovery.
