Minnesota Senior State Director

Howard Goldman

  • Howard Goldman is The HSUS's Minnesota senior state director. Pete Marovich

Howard Goldman, an animal advocate for more than 30 years, has been The HSUS's Minnesota senior state director since 2008.

Before joining The HSUS, the native Minnesotan directed a wildlife-protection group focused on banning leghold traps and protecting gray wolves, black bears, lynx, and bobcats. Under Goldman's direction, the group succesfully banned or restricted trapping in 30 Minnesota communities, and helped defeat legislation to establish a greyhound racetrack.

At The HSUS, Goldman led legislative campaigns on horse protection, animal fighting, and pet protection. Most recently, he defeated Minnesota's proposed "ag-gag" legislation.

Goldman is a board member of the Minnesota Humane Society and an active member of Feline Rescue. He recently retired as director of housing at the Department of Housing Development for Minnesota and Wisconsin.
