Maine State Director

Katie Hansberry

  • Katie Hansberry is The HSUS's Maine state director. The HSUS

Before joining The HSUS in April 2012 as our Maine state director, Katie Hansberry worked as a civil litigation defense attorney.

While a student at Boston College of Law School, Hansberrry was active in the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. She later worked to promote and expand the Animal Law Practice Group of the Massachusetts Bar Association by serving as the program and meeting coordinator.

After attending several of The HSUS's Taking Action for Animals conferences, Hansberry determined to focus her passion for animal welfare into a career.

She fortified her skills for animal advocacy by obtaining a M.S. in Animals and Public Policy from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, adding to her law degree and her undergraduate degree in economics and environmental studies.

Hansberry has also volunteered with the Coastal Humane Society, the Volunteer Lawyers Project, and the Nature Conservancy.
