The West Virginia state director for The HSUS, Summer Wyatt, has always cared about animal protection and awareness.
This passion for the well-being of animals became a crusade, spurring her Miss America public service platform: "making the connection: animal cruelty and family violence," which allowed her to make appearances across the state, including humane education presentations to more than 150,000 students.
Wyatt has since turned her passion into a career and has been involved in several large-scale animal cruelty and rescue cases, as well as the passage of laws protecting animals in West Virginia.
