  • Sergeant Michael Gabrielson is a consultant for Humane Society University. The HSUS

Sergeant Michael Gabrielson has been with the Kettering Police Department in Ohio since July 1993.

He served over nine years in the Criminal Investigations Section as a detective, working the majority of those years undercover.

From 1999 to 2001, Gabrielson was assigned to a county-wide narcotic task force working drug, liquor, and vice crimes. From 2002 to 2007 he was assigned to a statewide organized crime task force targeting criminal organizations and public corruption, during which he was deputized by the FBI and the U.S. Marshal's Office. These highly complex investigations extended throughout the United States and were a collaborative effort between many local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Most notably, Sergeant Gabrielson was the primary undercover agent assigned to Operation Biteback, the nation's first long-term, undercover infiltration of an organized dogfighting enterprise. Operation Biteback resulted in the arrest and conviction of more than 50 defendants for crimes involving stolen property, fraud, narcotics possession and trafficking, firearms and explosives possession and trafficking, animal fighting, and gambling. Operation Biteback is the still nation's largest and most successful dogfighting investigation in the history of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Sergeant Gabrielson has been a law enforcement instructor for more than 16 years and is a court-recognized expert in dogfighting and narcotics investigations. He also serves as a consultant for Humane Society University and travels the country instructing law enforcement officers on illegal animal fighting investigations. Sergaent Gabrielson has been featured on Animal Planet, ESPN, and numerous media outlets.

Sergeant Gabrielson received a BBA-Economics from Eastern Michigan University in 1991 and his MCJS-Justice Administration from Tiffin University in 2012. He is married and has three children.
