Before joining The HSUS, Pope was an animal control officer for Los Angeles Animal Services. She later moved to Virginia, where she served as the superintendent of Newport News Animal Services. During these 12 years of enforcing animal cruelty laws, she investigated and helped prosecute hundreds of cases of animal cruelty and dangerous dogs.
Pope has been involved in numerous large-scale animal rescues and has expertise in pet first aid, emergency pet sheltering, case preparation, and evidence collection for criminal cases.
