The HSUS is one of the largest and most diverse providers of direct animal care in the country. Our five centers—sanctuary and rehabilitation—provide relief and protection for sick, injured, abused, and abandoned animals. Located in Texas, Florida, California, Oregon and Massachusetts, our sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers are a large part of our animal care outreach. In 2008, through the centers and other efforts such as spay and neuter services, mobile veterinary clinics and disaster response, we provided direct care for more than 70,000 animals.
