Jake was captured by the Bureau of Land Management and adopted through the Grace Foundation in 2009. His pasture burned during the fires that devastated East Texas last summer and his owner could no longer care for him. He arrived at DDHRAC frightened and untouchable.
Slowly but surely, Jake makes progress every day. He still has a long way to go, but Jake can be caught, groomed, saddled and is now he is accepting a rider!
Jake is incredibly loyal and intelligent. He is still quite skeptical of those he doesn’t know, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up to a kind and confident hand. An experienced horseperson would be ideal for Jake since he is still building his confidence.
