U.S. Reps. John Campbell, R-Calif., and Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., earned praise from The Humane Society of the United States for introducing H.R. 4214, the Compound 1080 and Sodium Cyanide Elimination Act, legislation to curtail the use of two highly toxic predator poisons by U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services.

The HSUS Files False Advertising Complaint over Fur Garments
The HSUS filed a legal petition with the FTC against eleven nationally and internationally-known retailers for the false advertising and mislabeling of fur trimmed products. The retailers advertised various items as being made with “faux” fur, but the products contain real animal fur.

Animal advocates from across Indiana rallied at the state capitol in Indianapolis to urge their legislators to enact stronger animal protection laws as part of The HSUS' Humane Lobby Day 2011. Citizen advocates urged legislators to strengthen laws to crack down on animal fighting and prohibit coyote and fox penning, and to oppose captive trophy hunts.
