Los Angeles Unified School District Joins Meatless Monday Movement
The Humane Society of the United States is praising Los Angeles Unified School District—the nation’s second largest school district, serving more than 650,000 meals daily—for joining the international Meatless Monday movement by offering exclusively meat-free meals in its K-12 cafeterias every Monday, and by educating students about the health benefits of eating more plant-based foods.

Animal Protection Groups Urge Indiana Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee to Oppose Harmful Anti-Whistleblower Bill
The Humane Society of the United States, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Farm Sanctuary, Mercy For Animals, Compassion Over Killing, the Animal Legal Defense Fund, Animal Welfare Institute, Compassion in World Farming and the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association are urging members of the Indiana Senate Corrections and Criminal Law Committee to oppose SB373, a bill that seeks to prevent whistleblowers from exposing the mistreatment of animals and other misconduct on industrial farms.

Poll Shows Utah Voters Strongly Favor Tougher Penalties for Illegal Cockfighting by Nearly 5-to-1 Margin
A strong majority of Utah voters statewide want tougher penalties for cockfighting, with 70 percent in favor of a bill making cockfighting a felony crime, and only 15 percent opposed.
