Did You Know?
What do starlings have to do with poetry? These birds were brought to the U.S. from Europe as part of an effort to establish all of the birds mentioned in the works of Shakespeare. Starlings are cavity nesters and sometimes present a problem for humans who don’t appreciate the bird nesting in the ducts and vents in their homes.
PreVENTing Cavity Nesters
When this starling got trapped in a microwave vent, our Humane Wildlife Services team came to the rescue. Starlings, who only nest in cavities, see our stove, dryer, and exhaust fan vents as perfect nest sites—until they become trapped. Installing simple vent covers will protect your home and your starling neighbors.
