About the Protect Seals App
Save a seal with your next meal! It’s a snap with this free and easy app from The Humane Society of the United States! Join celebrity chefs like Mario Batali and Cat Cora by being part of the HSUS campaign to convince Canada to end the commercial slaughter of seal pups. The restaurants - from hometown favorites to international award-winners - found on the app are as fabulous as they are compassionate.
All of the restaurants and grocery stores listed have pledged to keep some or all Canadian seafood off their menus (and out of their shops) until Canada and its fishing industry stop their cruel and needless seal slaughter. And the best part? By dining or shopping at one of these locations, you will enjoy your favorite foods, have fun with friends and family—all while you’re taking a stand against needless animal cruelty… and helping to save thousands of baby seals!
You’re just one of many people who can't believe that the seal slaughter still goes on in Canada. With your help, it won't for much longer! Download the Protect Seals app, and then – through shopping at and eating at these fantastic establishments - you'll effortlessly be giving a nod of approval to all the thousands of chefs, restaurants and grocery stores that are encouraging Canada to be a more compassionate marine steward. There are thousands of wonderful restaurants and grocers to choose from, and your favorite places may already be on the list! If not, the app can help you enlist their support as well.
Here’s what you can do with the app:* Search for “Seal Friendly” restaurants and grocery stores by current location, name, ZIP code and more
* Share Seal Friendly establishments with your friends
* Use tools to recruit your favorite restaurant or grocery store to join the Protect Seals campaign
* Take action on important issues related to ending Canada’s seal hunt
Here’s what the participating restaurants and grocers are doing: They are supporting our efforts to save seals by doing one of three things: boycotting snow crabs from Canada, boycotting seafood from sealing provinces (Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Quebec), or boycotting all Canadian seafood. We welcome all of their efforts. They've all pledged to avoid these Canadian seafood items until Canada brings its commercial seal slaughter to an end once and for all. Please thank them when you visit them!
