About the Protect Seals boycott of Canadian seafood
Thank you for downloading the Protect Seals app! You’re on your way to finding great restaurants (and grocery stores) at home or on the road that are ALSO helping to protect animals!
All of the restaurants and grocery stores listed have pledged to keep some or all Canadian seafood off their menus (and out of their shops) until Canada and its fishing industry stop their cruel and needless seal slaughter. And the best part? By dining or shopping at one of these locations, you will enjoy your favorite foods, have fun with friends and family — all while you’re taking a stand against needless animal cruelty... and helping to save thousands of baby seals!
For years, Canada has authorized sealers to slaughter hundreds of thousands of seal pups — most of whom will be under three months of age when they die — for their fur. The restaurants and grocery shops listed on this app are supporting our efforts to save seals by doing one of three things: boycotting snow crabs from Canada, boycotting seafood from sealing provinces (Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Quebec), or boycotting all Canadian seafood. We welcome all of their efforts. Please thank them when you visit them!
The people who kill seal pups for profit in Canada are commercial fishermen. Boycotting the seafood they catch sends a clear — and economic — message to Canada: "We won’t buy while seals die." Every time you dine or shop at establishments listed on this app, you’re helping to send that message!
Thanks for supporting businesses that are working to shift Canada to a higher, more humane standard of marine stewardship. And please tell all your friends about the app!
