Tofurky Tuesdays promote healthier, more humane eating.

Tofurky®, one of the most popular meat alternatives, and The HSUS are teaming up on a new project called "Tofurky Tuesdays" to offer consumers a fun and practical way to help farm animals and reduce the effect of animal agriculture on global warming.

The HSUS is encouraging its members and supporters to forego meat on Tuesdays in favor of meat alternatives such as Tofurky products as a delicious and effective way to help animals, the environment, and their health.

Trying more meat-free foods is one great way to help animals, and it's part of the Three Rs: reducing the consumption of animal products, refining the methods of animal production to eliminate the most inhumane practices, and replacing animal products with meatless alternatives.

Introducing The "Tofurkymobile"

Those interested in participating in the new initiative can visit Tofurky's® website to pledge to eat meat-free once a week. Participants will receive discount coupons, nutrition information, and two complimentary magazines.

The fun new site includes a virtual Tofurkymobile—for each individual who registers for Tofurky Tuesdays, the car will move 16.5 miles on a virtual trip around the lower 48 states.  Hundreds of participants have registered already, and Tofurkymobile has already moved from Oregon to Texas.

Take a Bite Out of Global Warming—and Animal Cruelty

"Consumers can look forward to Tuesdays as great opportunities," said Paul Shapiro, senior director of The HSUS's factory farming campaign. "By reducing the amount of animal products we consume, we help fight global warming and reduce the suffering of farm animals."

Seth Tibbott, CEO of Turtle Island Foods and creator of Tofurky®, added, "We're proud to be working with The Humane Society of the United States to tackle global warming. The United Nations has pointed out that the animal agriculture sector is a greater global warming culprit than transportation. Savoring meat-free meals each Tuesday is a great way to prevent the inhumane treatment of animals and protect the planet."

Our Relationship

The HSUS has licensed the use of its logo on Tofurky's full line of all-vegetarian products—roasts, hot dogs, sausages, franks, burgers, jerky and more. And Tofurky periodically contributes recipes and cooking tips here.
