    A joint effort between several Alabama law enforcement agencies, The Humane Society of the United States, Montgomery Humane Society, and Lake Martin Humane Society resulted in the seizure of 31 dogs and puppies from suspected dogfighting operations at three properties in Tallapoosa County, Ala.     Pennsylvania Voters Show Statewide Support for Banning Live Pigeon Shoots

    A statewide survey conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research reveals that Pennsylvania voters, by more than a four-to-one margin, strongly support legislation to ban live pigeon shoots. Sen. Pat Browne, along with 22 co-sponsors, introduced SB 510, which would end contests where live pigeons are launched into the air and shot. A handful of gun clubs continue to use live pigeons in these contests, despite the widespread availability of clay pigeons.

    Additional Arrest, Dogs Seized in Alabama Dogfighting Investigation

    As part of a continued crack down on dogfighting activity in several southeastern states, the Federal Bureau of Investigations arrested yesterday David Bernard Grace of Dothan, Ala. Grace is the 14th suspect to be arrested in an ongoing multi-state dogfighting investigation that spans Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas. Prior to the arrest, The Humane Society of the United States assisted authorities with seizing 37 dogs and dogfighting paraphernalia from properties in Dothan and Abbeville, Ala., associated with Grace.

    The Humane Society of the United States Offers Reward in Syracuse, N.Y., Dog Starvation Case

    The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the starvation and death of a young pit bull-type dog. The HSUS reward is in addition to a reward offered by Cuse Pit Crew, raising the total reward offered to $6,000.
