Jerk Seitan
It's easy to make your own jerky

Stephanie Bain/Vegan de Novo
Serves 2
Seitan cutlets (either store-bought or homemade)
Jerk Marinade
1 bunch of green onions, chooped
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup olive oil mixed with 1/2 cup water
A couple cloves of garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon allspice
Combine the marinade ingredients in a blender.
Marinate the seitan cutlets for at least an hour—the longer the better.
Grilling the seitan is best, but if that is not an option, spray a frying pan with non-cook spray. Put the cutlets in the pan and cook until brown on each side.
Serving Suggestions and Variations
- You can use this Jamaican marinade on many different things, like tempeh, tofu or portobello mushrooms.
- Try serving the jerk seitan with mashed sweet potato, gazpacho or a corn chowder.
