Cool vs. Cruel 2011 Contest
Improve on a designer’s garment by making it fur-free!

The Art Institutes
Cool vs. Cruel challenges students of The Art Institutes to reinterpret and improve a runway look that uses animal fur by creatively replacing it with cruelty-free alternatives.
This year, the competition challenges students to improve on an inhumane design by Fendi, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, or Oscar de la Renta.
Students should use key elements from one of these four runway designs as inspiration for an original animal-friendly creation.
The judges are looking for imaginative and resourceful interpretations of each design, so please be careful not to merely recreate one of the garments.
See the 2011 contest rules, deadlines, and entry forms. Finalists will be judged by professionals in the fashion industry.
