Cool vs. Cruel 2009

Challenges students to design clothing without animal fur

The Humane Society of the United States

Cool vs. Cruel is an annual fashion design contest that challenges students of The Art Institutes to re-interpret and improve runway looks by creatively replacing the animal fur with cruelty-free alternatives. See the 2009 contest rules, deadlines and entry forms [PDF].

To help advertise the Cool vs. Cruel competition, download a Cool vs. Cruel poster [PDF].

This year, students will be asked to improve a cruel design by Michael Kors, Burberry Prorsum, Thakoon, or Alexander McQueen. Click on the thumbnails to see a high-resolution version.
