Laws and Legislation on Bear Hounding

The Humane Society of the United States

It's illegal to hunt bears with hounds in two thirds of the states.

Of the 30 states that allow bear hunting, 17 allow hunting them with hounds.

Voters have banned hound hunting of bears by ballot initiative in Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Massachusetts.

Unfortunately, the practice remains legal in 17 states.
