Past Trips

Our last donor trip to Puerto Rico in January of 2017 made a huge impact on animals. The agenda was as follows:

Day 1

Arrival and Welcome Dinner

Day 2

Donors learned about the use of PZP from some of the top experts in the world, while participating in the darting of wild horses, including documenting and photographing the experience. Participants also practiced using dart guns (with a target) and have a chance to interact with the wild horses.

Donors joined a local veterinarian to assist with spay/neuter/vaccine efforts and helped prepare medication, gather animals from their owners and assist with documentation.

Mosquito Bay is considered one of the best bioluminescent waters worldwide thanks to its higher concentration of dinoflagellates. The simple touch of your hands shaking the water activates the bioluminescence, which looks like underwater fireworks. Donors joined us and a certified guide as we traveled through these magical waters on a pontoon boat.

Day 3

At this local festival—which includes activities for students— donors participated in vetting and administering contraception to wild horses, basic triage, hands-on vetting, documentation, photography and the distribution of resources to the teenage riders.

At the horse festival donors met the local elementary school children and participate in educational activities focused on teaching them about the humane treatment of animals. Then you will take a short walk to the local shelter where you’ll help with spay/neuter/vaccine efforts, support the staff, assist with documentation and take lovable shelter dogs for walks.
