The disaster team I connected with is stationed in Monmouth County, with its coastal towns sitting just across the bay from Staten Island. Sandy hit the most densely populated city in America, New York, and also the most densely populated state of New Jersey."

The HSUS Launches 24-Hour Hotline to Reunite New Jersey Residents and Their Pets
The Humane Society of the United States, the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Agriculture have teamed up to launch a 24-hour hotline for New Jersey evacuees who were unable to bring their pets with them before Hurricane Sandy hit.
