HSUS experts assisted an investigation by the Hampton Police Division Animal Control Unit that led to a dogfighting raid resulting in two arrests and the seizure of dogs and dogfighting paraphernalia.

A company that allegedly served as a front for a North Carolina dogfighting operation is out of business. The HSYS assisted in investigations by the Randolph County, N.C., Sheriff’s Office and the Bedford County, Va., Sheriff’s Office.

The HSUS expressed disappointment that the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a decision throwing out a federal anti-cruelty law, but expressed optimism that Congress will be allowed to draft a more narrow statute to crack down on the sale of videos of illegal animal cruelty.
