The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $2,500 in the case of killing of eight horses in McConnelsville, Ohio. The HSUS offer adds to an existing $5,000 reward offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee.

Animal Welfare Groups Assist in the Rescue of 133 Allegedly Neglected Maryland Horses
The HSUS, ASPCA, Days End Farm Horse Rescue and Summer Winds Stables assisted Queen Anne County Animal Control enforcement with the rescue of approximately 133 horses from a Centreville property. The animals were removed from the property by Queen Anne County Animal Control after the County witnessed poor conditions during an inspection of the property. This is one of the largest equine rescues in the state.

The HSUS applauds lawmakers in Mississippi for strengthening the state’s legal protections for animals, making it the 47th state to enact felony penalties for the most egregious cases of cruelty to dogs and cats. Gov. Haley Barbour signed the felony animal cruelty bill into law on Tuesday after it passed the state legislature with strong bipartisan support.
