Jeremy Johnson
Angelo Sosa graduated with High Honors from the Culinary Institute of America and went on to work with Christian Betrand. Betrand then referred Angelo to Restaurant Jean Georges, where he met his mentor, Jean George Vongerichten.
Angelo advanced there with Vongerichten and got increased experience at Vongerichten's Spice Market and then Yumcha in the West Village. Later, he helped open Stephen Starr's Buddakan.
By 2006, Angelo began consulting for multiple projects, including LOFT Restaurant and Ducasse's Spoon Food & Wine in Paris.
Angelo Sosa on the Protect Seals boycott:
"As a chef, I have an immense respect for sea life. While we take from the oceans to put amazing food on our tables, it's important do so in a way that doesn’t disturb the ecosystem. That's why I'm a Chef for Seals."
In 2010, Angelo joined the cast of "Top Chef D.C.," the hit Bravo reality show, as a season 7 "cheftestant." He consistently wowed the judges and came out of the finals as a runner up and also won over "Top Chef" fans. Upon wrapping season 7, he immediately received an invitation to compete on "Top Chef All Stars." On "All Stars," he won the first two elimination challenges and regularly earned a top spot in the elimination challenges.
In the summer of 2009, Angelo opened his own spot, Xie Xie, and won the StarChef's New York's Rising Star award for Best New Restaurant Concept. Now, Angelo, having formed Sosa Consulting Group in 2010, continues to challenge himself by seizing new opportunities. Angelo’s most recent project is Social Eatz, where he's signed on as consulting chef, launching an innovative yet affordable menu that reinterprets American favorites with flavors from across Asia.
