New Jersey Senate Passes Legislation to Crack Down on Puppy Mills
A bill to help crack down on puppy mills and protect consumers who buy puppies from commercial breeders in pet stores has passed the State Senate. S. 1870 will require pet shops in the state to provide consumers with certain identifying information regarding the animals they sell.

Los Angeles-Area Pet Stores Take The HSUS’s ‘Puppy Friendly’ Pledge
Thanks to the efforts of volunteers and local advocates of The Humane Society of the United States, 80 Los Angeles-area pet stores have signed The HSUS’s Puppy Friendly Pet Stores pledge — committing not to sell puppies, and instead support local animal adoption programs and provide literature that helps customers learn how to get a puppy from a responsible source.
