Video: Ky. Dog Saved after Days Buried Alive in Rubble

Animal Rescue Team gets Duchess on the road to recovery

The recent tornadoes in Kentucky destroyed many buildings—and lives. When The HSUS and Fur Ever Friends received a report of a dog buried alive in rubble for days, our Animal Rescue Team was there to help.

It's what we do

The HSUS's Tara Loller sent this report from the Animal Rescue Team in Kentucky:

People often hug us. They cry on our shoulders. Sometimes they even tell us we are heroes. Our usual response is, "It's what we do," followed by "We love it!"

Sure, we work long hours, see sad things at times, and are away from our families, but the return is that animals seem to know we are there to help. It's an honor to hold them and tell them it's all going to be okay.

No matter what type of disaster we face, we are working in communities that need us, where we are embraced and soon treated like family. Whether it's reuniting families with their pets, providing a safe place for people to bring their pets, distributing food and supplies, or simply listening to their story...it's what we do, and we love it.

What you can do

Please make a donation today to help us help animals affected by disasters, cruelty, and neglect. We—and the animals—thank you.
