Honoring HSUS Celebrity Advocates - Beverly Hills Style!
September 2, 2010 was a special day for the City of Beverly Hills as it commemorated the once-in-a-lifetime date which happens to match its famous 90210 zip. Celebrating “all things Beverly Hills,” the mayor hosted a program of events featuring TV icons Larry King and Ryan Seacrest, the Kardashian family and the cast of the hit series that bears the city’s zipcode, 90210.
It may be recognized for being the home of the rich and famous, but the city with the zip also has an admirable record of animal-friendly policies, which is why The HSUS was called upon to represent the Beverly Hills animal community with a special presentation of its own, honoring three of its most supportive celebrity advocates. Receiving The HSUS’ Animal Advocate Awards from Wayne Pacelle were Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory), Jorja Fox (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland).
All three ladies have been regular presenters at The HSUS’ annual Genesis Awards: Kaley is a champion of rescue and shelter adoptions; Jorja, an unwavering voice against all forms of animal cruelty; and Wendie has quite literally been the face of The HSUS, appearing in a TV ad campaign which promotes our work against puppy mills, horse slaughter, factory farming abuses and pet overpopulation. In fact, Wendie hit exactly the right note when thanking the city of Beverly Hills for including animals in its celebrations: “ I truly believe that being glamorous and compassionate are not mutually exclusive, so keep your hearts open and be kind to all sentient beings.” We couldn’t have put it better.
