Compassion for Seals Part of Nigel Barker’s Beauty Equation
The America’s Next Top Model judge and spokesperson for HSUS’s Protect Seals campaign has a new book on sale
It should come as no great surprise that Nigel Barker knows a thing or two about looking great. After all, he’s been a model, fashion photographer, and a judge for 15 seasons on the wildly popular "America’s Next Top Model."
Barker’s message? That one element in the formula for looking good on the outside is being good on the inside, and compassion, for animals as well as people, is a critical ingredient.
Barker has put his own compassion for animals into practice. As a spokesperson for The HSUS/HSI, he’s traveled to the ice in Canada to document the beauty of newborn white harp seal pups, as well as the horror of their slaughter just days later.
Barker says that exhibitions of his seal photos and showings of his documentary, "A Sealed Fate?," are meant to be “a celebration of the seals' lives, what they are, and their transformation during their short life.” He added, “I want to bring a spotlight to show people what they look like, right up until they die, so people realize what we are losing."
