Emily Deschanel Wraps the Year as Humane Advocate Awardee
The HSUS Hollywood Office party--where everyone gets the star treatment!
Over 150 of The HSUS Hollywood Office's VIP Cast & Crew members and other supporters gathered for an exclusive Wrap Party and to honor "Bones" star and animal advocate Emily Deschanel. Hosted by Beverly Kaskey, senior director of The Humane Society of the United States' Hollywood office, and Michael Markarian, COO of The HSUS, this annual event took place for the first time in the Rita Hayworth Room at Sony Pictures Studios on December 5th.
A vegan and passionate proponent of cruelty-free living, Emily Deschanel received The HSUS's Humane Advocate Award for her tireless support of key HSUS campaigns, including those addressing dogfighting, factory farming and the Canadian seal hunt. Emily also serves on the National Council of the Humane Society Legislative Fund and is a frequent presenter at The HSUS’s annual Genesis Awards.
“Emily is a true champion of the animal protection cause, who walks the walk and talks the talk both personally and professionally,” said Beverly Kaskey. “Not only is she willing to actively speak out about the issues, but she has helped spotlight them in various episodes of 'Bones', thereby delivering an animal protection message to a huge primetime audience.”
But Emily wasn’t the only person given the star treatment at the event: All attendees, including celebrities Charlotte Ross and Dominic Scott Kay, were made to feel extra special for supporting the work of the Hollywood office. Having feasted on a Wolfgang Puck gourmet vegan brunch, guests bid at a silent auction of cruelty-free luxury items, luxuriated in chair massages from Accident & Pain Relief Center and makeovers by Jane Cosmetics, sampled tasty teas from Naja Tea bar, and sipped wines from Four Paws & A Tail. The Family Jewels was also there selling jewelry for holiday gifts.
