Animals Have A Million Fans on The HSUS' Facebook Page

The HSUS celebrates one million "likes" on Facebook with a special video and a slideshow of our fans and their pets

The Humane Society of the United States, the nation's largest animal welfare organization, marked a social media milestone on Wednesday by reaching one million Facebook fans. The HSUS' Facebook page shares a wealth of animal-related information and highlights the animal welfare work and victories of The HSUS.

"Although we prefer not to focus on numbers as a measurement of social media success, one million fans is a huge landmark that we are excited to celebrate with our online community," said Carie Lewis, director of Emerging Media for The HSUS.

"The HSUS reached this goal by listening to concerns of our fans, producing content that people want to share, and making sure every post provides value to our fans and to the animals they care about."

HSUS outreach on social media

Social media is an integral part of The HSUS' overall communications strategy, which also includes a comprehensive website and targeted email outreach. Engagement and integration are the secrets to The HSUS’ success in social media.
