Southern California is full of scenic trails with breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife. For those of us lucky enough to live in or visit Southern California, visiting these trails is a must.
If you’re one of these people, then mark your calendars for the first annual Fund for Animals Wildlife Center’s Wildlife Hike-a-Thon. The hike will take place Saturday, November 15 and all proceeds will go to benefit the work of the FFAWC, allowing them to continue their rescue and rehabilitation services to ill, injured, and orphaned wildlife and to provide care to permanent sanctuary residents.
When: Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: Poway Lake, 14644 Lake Poway Road Poway, CA 92064
The Wildlife Hike-a-Thon will take place on a scenic, point-to-point course during the peak of autumn. The course is a 3.2 miles (5K+) part trail/part cross country layout. Bring the whole family and take the leisurely hike to the half-way point where you can enjoy a refreshing drink before turning back to the finish line. Or, if you’re up for a more challenging hike, continue on for one major hill and a few switchbacks as the course follows the curves of Poway Lake and loops back to where you started.
Registration is open to the public, with the details as follows:
- Early registration: registration online for adults age 15+ is $45 and children ages 6-14 is $15 until November 12. Children 5 and under are free!
