Hudson Valley SPCA Receives Emergency Grant After Fatal Fire
The Hudson Valley SPCA in New Windsor, N.Y. will receive an emergency grant of $3,000 from The Humane Society of the United States. The grant will assist in recovery efforts after a fire claimed two dogs, injured five others, and destroyed one of the agency’s dog housing areas.
SPCA staff and volunteers immediately joined forces with community members and local businesses to overcome the tragedy of the fire. Dogs most affected by the smoke are receiving veterinary care and others are receiving loving care and new lodging in foster homes.
According to Tom DiCarrado, president of the HVSPCA Board of Directors, veterinary bills to treat the dogs most affected by the fire are mounting and additional aid is needed to support the rebuilding of the facility that was destroyed.
Anyone interested in making a financial or in-kind donation to this community wide effort, or would like details and updates on the fire’s victims, may visit the shelter’s website: www.hudsonvalleyspca.com.
