Court Rules California Rodenticide Ban to Move Forward

The HSUS Urges Retailers to Remove Products Prior to July 1

A California Superior Court on Friday denied the request of the maker of D-Con to delay implementation of a state regulation prohibiting the retail sale of its products and other second generation anti-coagulant rodenticides as of July 1, 2014. The HSUS supported that regulation and California senior state director Jennifer Fearing issued the following statement:

“We are glad that California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation is cleared to proceed with planned enforcement of a July 1 ban on retail sale of D-Con and similar products that wreak havoc on non-targeted animals and cause widespread suffering. California retailers shouldn’t wait until July 1 and should take these dangerous products off their shelves immediately.”
