Edie Falco Urges Gov. Christie to Sign Bill Banning Extreme Confinement of Pigs
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie actress and Emmy award winner, is urging Gov. Chris Christie to sign S. 998 to ban the extreme confinement of breeding pigs in New Jersey. Falco provided the following statement:
Dear Governor Christie,
I spent many years in New Jersey filming my show The Sopranos. New Jersey citizens were by far the most welcoming, kind, and compassionate folks so it is no surprise that more than 90 percent of them are against unnecessary cruelty to animals. In this second time around, I sincerely hope you sign the gestation crate ban without delay. You proved yourself a kindhearted man for animals by passing the recent ivory legislation, and I hope you will follow suit for pigs who desperately need your help. I am proud to stand with my friends at The Humane Society of the United States and urge you to pass S. 998. Thank you.
Falco joins Danny DeVito, Martha Stewart, Bill Maher, Jon Bernthal, Paul Wesley and more than 90 percent of New Jersey citizens in publicly urging Gov. Christie to ban gestation crates without delay. He has until Nov. 30 to sign the bill.
