Montana Man Accused of Illegally Killing Three Grizzly Bears
A Montana man has been accused of illegally killing three grizzly bears in August. Wendy Hergenraeder, Montana state director for The Humane Society of the United States issued the following response:
“We are grateful for the charges filed against Everett Skunkcap for the unlawful taking of a threatened species as reported. Poaching is a serious crime that undermines the important work of wildlife law enforcement and puts all wildlife at risk. Moreover, Skunkcap has shown no remorse for reportedly killing a mother grizzly and her two cubs while the animals stood hundreds of feet away and posed no serious threat to public safety. We hope that a conviction and strong sentence deters others from committing this serious crime.”
