Homeward Bound in the Heartland Rescue Receives Grant After Theft

Homeward Bound in the Heartland Rescue in Omaha, Neb. will receive an emergency grant of $1,000 from The Humane Society of the United States. The grant will help the organization replenish several thousand pounds of pet food stolen from a storage unit around the night of June 10. The food was meant to be shared with foster families and community members in need of extra help for their pets. Cat and dog toys and other items were also stolen.

According to Joni Cisney, president of Homeward Bound in the Heartland Rescue, community support following the burglary has been tremendous, with individuals and local business assisting by providing bags of food and hosting supply drives and garage sales.

Anyone interested in making a donation to help replace the stolen food and supplies can contact Homeward Bound in the Heartland Rescue at 402.706.7313 or info@homewardboundintheheartland.info.
